Wei Yue’s Research

My research primarily focuses on three areas: magnetically actuated microrobots, machine learning-assisted optimization, and pMUT-based applications.

Taking advantage of the rapid response, wireless control, and deep penetration capabilities of magnetic actuation, we have designed and fabricated a range of systems including bioinspired bone-in-flesh actuators, a flying robot with a wingspan of 9.4 mm, and swarm robots with a diameter of 3 mm.

By integrating supervised learning, reinforcement learning, and generative models into the design and optimization of MEMS devices, we have achieved performance that surpasses traditional approaches based solely on empirical knowledge and simulations.

We applied beamforming techniques to pMUT arrays for actuation, enabling both mid-air haptics and mid-air particle manipulation.
